According to a video uploaded by journalist Sahil Malhotra, Deepak Chahar was present at the venue but did not wear the Indian team’s official training uniform. Despite having played for the Indian side in white-ball formats, Chahar has yet to make his Test debut with the Baggy Blues.
The Indian squad is now preparing for the fifth Test in the ongoing series against England. This series-deciding match will take place on July 31 at The Oval in London, and the Indian team is currently dealing with a number of injuries. Deepak Chahar, an out-of-favour pacer, was observed exercising among the Indian squad on the pitch the day before the game.

While Chahar is not officially with the Indian team, his presence suggests a possible addition to the squad; however, no statement has yet been made by the BCCI. Notably, top wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out with a toe fracture, and Jasprit Bumrah is expected to miss the final game of the series. As a result, the selectors have included professional hitter Narayan Jagadeesan in their team.
The ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 has been a rollercoaster ride for fans of both sides thus far. The hosts, England, began the assignment with a bang, winning the first game by five wickets. However, the Indians responded impressively, winning the second Test at Edgbaston by a massive margin. The third Test went England’s way again, but the fourth Test in Manchester ended in a draw.
England now leads the series 2-1, and even a draw at The Kennington Oval will help them win it. On the other hand, if the Shubman Gill-led side is to avoid the disgrace of a series defeat, they must win their next match against the Ollie Pope-led side. The hosts have already picked their starting XI for the forthcoming match, with Ben Stokes out owing to a shoulder injury.
Aside from Stokes, the English squad has three other alterations, with the pace pair of Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse injured, and Liam Dawson also missing. Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue, and Gus Atkinson are the four players who replaced the departed players.
