The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted a commanding total of 204 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The final over of the innings turned out to be a spectacle as DC’s left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc delivered the final over.
On the first ball of the over, the left-handed bowler bowled a full toss to Andre Russell and launched it straight down the ground for a massive 106-metre six. The second delivery was a slower one that was called wide by the umpire.
Delhi Capitals was led by stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis and went for a review, but lost it as the ball was wide.

The next delivery was again to the Jamaican, and signalled as wide again by the umpire but DC reviewed it once more. This time the replays showed the ball hitting the pads, and it was ruled as leg byes.
Rovman Powell missed the full-length ball that the Australian pacer bowled to him on the third ball and was stuck on the back pad. Powell was disqualified LBW after he requested a review but the ball tracking revealed three reds.
Anukul Roy was hit hard by the fourth delivery, which appeared to be a six, but Dushmantha Chameera made a spectacular catch close to the boundary.
Starc had taken two wickets in two balls, completing a hat-trick. Harshit Rana missed the fifth ball that was thrown to him. Russell then attempted a fast single. But Abishek Porel, the wicketkeeper, struck the stumps hard, and the West Indies batsman was out. With the belief that there was an edge, DC went for a review; nevertheless, UltraEdge made no contact with the bat. At the end of the day, DC achieved a team hat-trick.
DC took nine wickets in their twenty overs. In front of their home crowd, DC will want to win the game with a high total to chase, while KKR have to win to remain in the IPL 2025 playoff picture.
