After defeating the Chennai Super Kings in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals ascended to the summit of the IPL 2023 standings. Dhruv Jurel made a substantial contribution with the bat to help his team reach a formidable total, though Yashasvi Jaiswal’s swashbuckling half-century garnered more attention.
Following his innings, Jurel disclosed that MS Dhoni’s presence on the field inspired him.
Sanju Samson’s team, which entered the match on the heels of two consecutive losses, completed the season sweep over MS Dhoni’s Yellow Army. Young batting prodigy Dhruv Jurel of Rajasthan, who has impressed with a handful of quickfire cameos this season, played another explosive inning against the four-time champions.
The 22-year-old batsman disclosed that CSK’s legendary captain, MS Dhoni, motivates him whenever he is behind the wicket. Dhruv Jurel, like the majority of spectators at the venue, is a huge fan of the former Indian captain and was thrilled to play alongside the World Cup-winning commander.
“I am privileged to play on the same field as Dhoni Bhai. I have watched him play since I was a child. I don’t experience any pressure. On the other hand, it acts as an incentive. Knowing that he is standing behind me and observing me motivates me. “That’s enough for me,” Dhruv Jurel said in a press conference following the match.
I have so much experience that I must nail six for every ball: Dhruv Jurel
In an astounding partnership with Devdutt Padikkal, the 22-year-old batsman from Uttar Pradesh scored 34 runs off just 15 deliveries. He disclosed that practicing big smashes in the nets gave him the confidence to hit every ball for six in the final overs.
“Management assigned me to this [finisher] position, so I trained accordingly. I do not feel as though I have fewer balls and must score huge runs. I have so much experience that I must nail six for every ball. Every day, I devote three to four hours to batting, ensuring that I am gaining something from it. The remainder will take care of itself,” he added.
