On Thursday, September 4, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) mentor and batting coach Dinesh Karthik conveyed his sympathies and support to the victims of the sad stampede outside.

The stampede erupted as an estimated three lakh fans arrived to see RCB’s first Indian Premier League (IPL) victory celebrations. The event killed 11 people and injured more than 50 others.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, RCB announced financial assistance of INR 25 lakh each for the families of the deceased. The franchise, along with fans and members of the cricketing fraternity, expressed deep grief and solidarity with those affected.
On Monday, September 1, RCB unveiled the framework of RCB Cares, a long-term initiative dedicated to its fans. The programme aims to support, empower, and uplift the ‘12th Man Army’ through meaningful actions and sustained commitment.
“They were part of us. Part of what makes our city, our community & our team unique. Their absence will echo in the memories of each one of us,” the statement read.
RCB further emphasised that the INR 25 lakh aid is not merely financial assistance, but also a pledge of compassion, unity, and continued care for the bereaved families. Under the RCB Cares initiative, the franchise assured that its support will extend beyond monetary relief, focusing on fast, transparent, and compassionate assistance for fans and families impacted by the tragedy.
