Dinesh Karthik, a veteran wicketkeeper and hitter, thinks Ajinkya Rahane has played great cricket in the IPL 2023 so far and will be confident going into the World Test Championship final against Australia on June 7 at The Oval in London. Notably, since Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant are both injured and can’t play right now, Rahane was able to make it back into the team after a great season in the Ranji Trophy.
Dinesh Karthik also said that the player has a great record in Test matches outside of India, which Rahane is likely to find reassuring. The 37-year-old also said that the next eight to ten months are very important for the middle-order batter because he doesn’t have a contract right now. If Rahane does well, he can get back into India’s plans and could win a central deal if he does well.
“I think he’s back on his game. He has good flow and is sure of himself. Everyone knows that he does well outside of India. In his Test cricket future, the next six to eight months will be very important. He has really helped CSK. “When he came back, the way he batted and the way he played showed that he was in a very good frame of mind, which is very important for a batter,” Dinesh Karthik said in a video that the ICC shared.
Dinesh Karthik chooses KS Bharat to play in the WTC final instead of Ishan Kishan.
Dinesh Karthik thinks it’s a bit much to put Ishan Kishan ahead of KS Bharat in the last game of the World Test Championship. Notably, the cricketer from Ranchi has never played in a Test match, so Bharat should be the best pick for wicket-keeper batter.
“I think Bharat will be an easy choice because playing Ishan Kishan in his debut and a Test match right before the World Test Championship Final is a bit much. And the fact that KS Bharat has this keeping edge possibly tips the scales a little bit in his favor. So I think they will go into the final with KS Bharat,” Karthik said.
