IPL 2025: Dwayne Bravo criticises risky batting approach, blames Impact Player rule

Dwayne Bravo, the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), criticised the players and their style of play these days, particularly in the present IPL 2025. Bravo believes that the hitters have lost the fundamentals of batting and have gotten careless since the competition implemented the new Impact Plaer regulation.

He also commended the bowlers for their intelligence and consistent wicket-taking. The former player claims that before delivering a ball, bowlers use their minds and thoroughly analyse the game.

“The batsmen no longer have that much importance on the wicket. Because they play on those flat fields, they might be a little careless. With the Impact Player, teams are batting for longer periods of time, hence batsmanship is no longer valuable. According to Dwayne Bravo, “the Impact Player is there, a lot of teams have batted longer, so the value for batsmanship is no longer there.”

This explains why the scores are now beginning to decline somewhat. Bravo continued, “Bowlers are trying to use their strengths more and are becoming smarter.”

“Yes, our batting lineup is aggressive, but that isn’t cricket. I want to emphasise to the batsmen in particular that the fundamentals of the game are still necessary. The game’s intelligence is still necessary. I believe the KKR men are beginning to realise that they simply need to put forth a little more effort.
