The first super over in WPL history was played in the most exciting game of the season, which was the last one between RCB Women and UP Warriorz Women. Though Sophie Ecclestone led the team to triumph with both bat and ball, Ellyse Perry‘s innings as an RCB star was not overlooked despite some excellent efforts from both teams.
Even though the 34-year-old all-rounder hit an undefeated 90 off 56 deliveries, including nine fours and three maximums, it was still one of his greatest innings in the tournament. In WPL history, this was the second-highest score ever recorded by an RCB player.
Ellyse Perry is the tournament’s top run scorer after recuperating from a hip ailment.
She is also putting on important performances. With the ball in which she scalped Shweta Sehrawat, the crowd also watched her comeback.
In the process, Perry surpassed her former Australian captain Meg Lanning to become the highest-scoring player in WPL history. Currently, Perry has amassed 835 runs in 21 WPL games while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women. She strikes at a rate of 133.17 and averages 64.23.
