In their fifth encounter against UP Warriorz on Monday, March 4, at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCB-W) came out firing after dropping their previous two games in the Women’s Premier League 2024. With their captain, Smriti Mandhana, leading from the front with a brilliant knock of 80 (50), the hosts amassed a mammoth total of 198/3 in the 20 overs they were given.
Ellyse Perry contributed as well, hitting 58 off 37 balls for a magnificent half-century that included four fours and as many sixes. Perry’s rage wasn’t limited to the UP bowlers; the right-hand batter also destroyed the window of the sponsor car parked inside the stadium with one of her maximum strikes.
The incident happened on Deepti Sharma’s fifth ball in the 19th over. As he descended the track, the Australian all-rounder hit a 76-meter six over the long-on boundary, smashing the ball through the car’s windshield. All of the spectators in the stadium were in complete shock at the situation, and even Perry responded with a cute tap of her head, expressing some regret for breaking the automobile.

Prior to this, RCB captain Mandhana and opening partner Sabbhineni Meghana (28 off 21) put their team on a fast run, scoring 51 runs off 33 balls for the first wicket. After Deepti Sharma trapped Meghana in the sixth over, Perry entered the field at number three and continued to inflict pain on the Uttar Pradesh team.
For the second wicket, Mandhana and Ellyse Perry scored 95 runs.
A remarkable 95-run partnership between Perry and Mandhana off 64 balls helped the RCB score surpass 140. After hitting her greatest WPL score of 80 (50) with ten fours and three sixes, the RCB captain was eventually removed from the game.
After being dismissed, Perry was replaced at the crease by Richa Ghosh (21* off 10), and the two shared a vital partnership of 42 off 18 balls, leading RCB to an enormous score of 198/3 in 20 overs.
