Rishabh Pant of Team India has been in excellent form with the bat in the upcoming Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against England. Pant has played all three games, scoring an incredible 425 runs at an average of 70.83, in addition to a number of centuries and as many half-centuries. Despite his unorthodox stroke technique, which involves risks, Pant has quickly established himself as the backbone of India’s middle-order batting team.
Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes Pant should always feel free to play, and it is the team’s obligation to maintain confidence in his abilities. If the batting unit needs to outperform the opposition bowlers, Pant should lead the charge when he gets at the crease. Manjrekar also claimed that the Englishmen feel intimidated when the Southpaw bats against them.
“Rishabh Pant will play his way no matter what the circumstances are. He should obtain the licence because he deserves it. The batting unit must perform properly. Jaiswal should reflect about how he got out. He should take advantage of his form. Pant, I believe, is a major player at No. 5.
“He is a batter that England fears,” he told Star Sports before of the fourth Test.

The fourth game of the five-match series will be held in Manchester, and Manjrekar believes Shubman Gill is the most essential hitter and plays a significant role with the bat. However, he struggled to get going in the preceding game, and other batters stepped up, so the star batter’s services were not greatly missed. He also wants the Indian captain to return to form for the match at Old Trafford.
“Shubman Gill has a significant function. However, India should consider that Gill made no impact to the batting at Lord’s, despite the fact that the batting lineup was demanding. “That is a good takeaway that we are not completely reliant on Gill,” the cricketer-turned-commentator stated.
“I believe he has the capacity to maintain form. Perhaps there will be some introspection in this gap. He should consider whether the altercation was essential, or if he should simply focus on captaincy. “If he does that, his run-making machine will restart at Old Trafford,” Manjrekar said.
The Ben Stokes-led side is currently 1-2 up in the series, and the game in Manchester will be a do-or-die encounter for the visiting Indian side. While a win for India will draw the series, losing will kick them out of the race, and mark a bad start to their World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
