Akash Deep was India’s best bowler in the second Test at Edgbaston, helping the Asian team make history by winning its first Test match at the legendary stadium after nine attempts. India dominated the second Test, eventually winning by 336 runs to tie the five-match series at 1-1.

Akash Deep, who apparently had a niggle that prompted him to miss the first Test, replaced Jasprit Bumrah in Edgbaston.

The 28-year-old bowled the new ball on a string in both innings, finishing with match stats of 10/187, the best by an Indian bowler in England.

The English crowd is well-known for their appreciation of outstanding cricket, particularly in the game’s longest format. English fans create sporting songs, particularly in football, where nearly every star has their own chant. Cricket isn’t far behind in terms of singing, which frequently originates from the part where the ever-vocal Barmy Army sits. However, it is uncommon for an opposing player to have his own chant.

Deep received a song chanted in his appreciation by an English fan outside the stadium after being one of England’s architects of the Edgbaston success. Set to the tune of The Beatles’ Let It Be, the song celebrates the Bengal pacer’s hard work that propelled him to fame.
