The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced its roster for the five-match T20Is against the Indian Women, which will be played from June 28 to July 12. Sophie Ecclestone, who replaced Sarah Glenn in the 14-member squad, will return.
The five T20Is in the series will be played at Trent Bridge on June 28, Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol on July 1, the Kia Oval on July 4, Emirates Old Trafford on July 9, and Edgbaston on July 12. The T20I series will be followed by a three-match ODI series, with the schedule and squads yet to be announced.
Charlotte Edwards opened up about the squad and said she was looking forward to playing the Indian women. While she was pleased with the team’s victory over the West Indies Women, she recognised the need to improve in several areas. Edwards believed it would be vital before the T20 and ODI World Cups.
“We’re tremendously excited to take on India. They’re one of the top teams in the world, and this will be a major challenge for us. There was a lot to be delighted about in the West Indies series, but there are also a lot of things we want to work on – we’re always wanting to improve. Five games against India in front of large crowds at outstanding venues would serve us really well.” Edwards
