The England Women’s white-ball teams for their forthcoming series against the West Indies Women do not include Sophie Ecclestone. Right now, the left-arm spinner is recuperating from a knee ailment. Issy Wong, a right-arm medium pacer, is expected to return to international cricket after being out of the starting lineup for several months.
Wong was selected for the 20-over series along with Emily Arlott, another pacer from Warwickshire, although Maia Bouchier was left out. Arlott, who has not yet made her debut for her country, was also selected for the ODI team.
Despite playing for Lancashire on Wednesday and scoring a fifty as England’s selection panel, which included recently appointed national selector Lydia Greenway, named their squads, Ecclestone has been unable to play domestic cricket because of a knee injury. Those chosen for the ODIs include Emma Lamb and Alice Davidson-Richards, who make their comeback to the international scene.
Mahika Gaur, 19, a left-arm pace bowling all-rounder, was called up for the 50-over format. Gaur travelled to Australia for the Ashes but did not play as part of her recuperation from an injury. Beaumont joined the T20I team again.
Charlotte Edwards, head coach of England Women, gave updates on Danielle Gibson, Freya Kemp, and Ecclestone.
“Sophie Ecclestone is still not fully recovered from her knee injury. She has been working hard and recovering, but she hasn’t played enough cricket for Lancashire to be prepared for this series. Due to injuries, all-rounders Danielle Gibson (stress fracture) and Freya Kemp (back injury) are both out. “Lauren Filer’s recuperation from a knee injury is going well, and she will continue to be evaluated,” Edwards said.
