Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has emerged as one of the most reliable and potent teams as the IPL 2025 season draws to a close. RCB is almost certain to qualify for the playoffs with 14 points from 10 games and second place in the standings. The aggressive strategy, top-order ambition, and bowling depth of RCB were hailed by former England captain Eoin Morgan as key factors in their win.
With RCB undefeated this season and having achieved success in every area, Morgan said the team has benefited greatly from the new additions to their roster, relying on their offensive mentality, particularly while playing away.
“RCB has done a lot of things correctly, in my opinion. The way Phil Salt and Virat Kohli have conducted themselves at the top of the order this year is one of the things I’ve truly loved watching. Although I am aware that Jacob has lately replaced Phil, their aggressiveness at the top enabled them to maintain the same mindset throughout the middle order. “How they’ve gained momentum, particularly away from home, and then come back to Chinnaswamy to get their first win, is more important than the number of runs,” he stated on JioStar.
Their bowling has also been impressive: Eoin Morgan
RCB’s change this year is not just about the batters. Their bowling unit, consisting of Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, has been instrumental. Hazlewood has bagged 18 wickets in 10 games at an average of 17.27 and an economy of 8.44 and is leading the wicket-takers’ list.
“Their bowling has also been impressive, particularly Josh Hazlewood. One of the best Test bowlers in the world applying himself in T20 cricket, like he did for CSK in 2021, shows how he’s become a brilliant multi-format player. If you’re an RCB fan, you have a lot to cheer about, especially with the kind of cricket they’re playing heading into the playoffs,” Morgan added.
In the mega auction, the side invested heavily in the Indian core of Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Jitesh Sharma, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who have supported the overseas stars and senior players like Virat Kohli and skipper Rajat Patidar. Kohli, with four fifties in his last five innings, has smashed 443 runs in the season.
