Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis was dissatisfied with his team’s batting performance in the final five overs of their innings after losing to the Mumbai Indians in a crucial game. At one point, it appeared as though they would easily post a total of over 220 runs.
This score was never going to be an issue, especially in light of the form the Mumbai Indians hitters had displayed in prior matches when they chased down totals above 200. As it turned out, MI started off strong, making a mockery of the run chase and cruising to the goal of 200 with 21 balls to spare.
Faf du Plessis said in the post-game presentation:
“Considering the wicket, I believe we were at least 20 runs short. They have a potent pursuing team and a big batting lineup. We were unhappy that we were unable to capitalize in the final five overs given the paucity of runs in those innings.
The RCB captain even praised Suryakumar Yadav’s batting performance, whose innings of 83 runs off just 35 balls essentially sealed the victory for the home team. Together with Nehal Wadhera, the outstanding Indian batsman put together a crucial partnership of 140 runs in just 66 deliveries, slamming the ball all over the place and guaranteeing that MI wouldn’t lose the match.
When Suryakumar Yadav gets going, it can be challenging to stop him. He is one of the finest. Throughout the first half of the IPL, Siraj has excelled. The guys will come out and play well, but he got away with it for a very long time,” he remarked.
RCB fails to contain MI during the pursuit.
With the help of Glenn Maxwell (68 runs off 33 balls) and captain Faf (65 runs off 41 balls), RCB scored a total of 199/6 in their allotted 20 overs after being requested to bat first by the Mumbai Indians. Ishan Kishan, a wicketkeRoyal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis was dissatisfied with his team’s batting performance in the final five overs eper-batter, made sure that his side got off to a strong start by using his power hitting to help MI start off effectively in reply to the target of 200.
Suryakumar joined the fun as well, scoring 83 runs off of just 35 balls in his inning. Nehal Wadhera scored 52* in 34 balls for MI to secure the victory and end RCB’s ambitions. Due to his outstanding performance with the bat, Suryakumar also received the Player of the Match award. It should be noted that with this victory, MI has moved up to third place, while RCB has fallen to seventh.
