Many cricket fans and commentators have expressed their opinions over Virat Kohli’s decision to retire from Test cricket. All those who had wanted to see more of him in the red-ball format were shocked to learn of this, which put a stop to a career that had seen numerous achievements for the Indian team since his debut in 2011.
A group of supporters met the former Test captain and his wife, Anushka Sharma, as they arrived at the Mumbai airport. In the widely shared video, a fan appeared to be angry by the Delhi batter’s disappearance from Test cricket. Virat’s choice to leave the red-ball format was then questioned by the fan. The fan continued by saying that he used to watch Test cricket just to witness the iconic batsman take on the middle-field bowling assaults.
“Hello sir, you made a mistake. Why did you retire? Now, we will never watch cricket, I will not watch cricket now. I used to watch Test matches only for you,” the fan expressed as Virat was seen stepping out of the airport with his wife Anushka.

As they go ready for the five-match tour to England, the 36-year-old will still be a part of the limited overs setup even if he will no longer be playing for the Test side. He will play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League, which is about to resume after a ten-day break.
With 505 runs in 11 innings, Virat has notably been one of the league’s best scorers in the 18th season thus far. He trails only Suryakumar Yadav in the Orange Cap race, who has 510 runs for the Mumbai Indians in this year’s major competition. In the first match following the resumption on May 17 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Virat will try to outscore the MI batter against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
