The Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match of IPL 2025 was abruptly cancelled due to security concerns brought on by Pakistan’s strikes in several parts of India. Thousands of spectators at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium quickly left the stadium as a result of this.
After 10.1 overs, the game was called off with the Punjab Kings’ score at 122/1. Fans first observed odd behaviour, such as the abrupt cessation of floodlights, before the stadium experienced a total darkness. After that, in order to prevent panic, a quick evacuation was carried out without a formal declaration. After safely exiting the stadium, an Instagram user and his friends described the entire evacuation procedure while travelling overnight to Jaipur.
According to the latest information, we had just arrived in Dharamsala to watch the game when we heard about the attacks and explosions that had just occurred. The match was abruptly stopped because we were all inside the ground and there was some commotion. We then left, but the trouble now is that we have to travel to Jaipur from here. Our distance from Jaipur is around 800 km. And I had briefly given you the story. What transpired? We were therefore underground.
A circumstance when the army personnel became quite active occurred after, I believe, ten overs were completed. There were many army men, snipers, and other individuals in our wing. The eight to ten army members were informing people and stood ready with their weapons. Also, after a while, we got calls from family members telling us about the explosions and gunfire in Pathankot, Punjab.
Following the call, the stadium’s lights were turned off, and people began leaving swiftly. A few minutes later, the stadium was completely deserted. Earlier, during one of the overs, a light went out and we were confused. Then, another light went out, and the VIPs began leaving the pitch’, a fan called Shubham Gautam posted on Instagram.

The IPL Governing Council will hold an emergency meeting.
IPL Governing Council Chairman Arun Dhumal personally urged fans to leave the stadium in numerous recordings that went viral on social media. They promptly relocated players, cheerleaders, support personnel, and even co-owner Preity Zinta. A video of the evacuation and blackout was posted by one cheerleader.
Growing tensions at the Indo-Pak border were the cause of the blackout and exodus. Pakistan used drones and missiles to undertake a series of raids on different parts of North India earlier on Thursday. Following India’s reaction under Operation Sindoor in retribution for the terror strike in Pahalgam in April, this incident occurred.
A special train is being organised to take the players, officials, and staff from Dharamsala to Delhi, the BCCI has subsequently confirmed. According to BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, everyone’s safety is the top priority, and any decisions made about the IPL 2025 season would be subject to government orders. Importantly, the IPL Governing Council has called an emergency meeting and is considering suspending the competition.
