Fareed Khan, a promising young cricketer from Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir, died in a horrific traffic accident. The boy was killed after being struck by a car door while riding his bicycle.
According to CCTV footage, the tragedy occurred while Fareed was riding his two-wheeler on a nearby road. A passenger in a car parked on the side of the road opened its door unexpectedly, straight in front of his motorbike. The unexpected accident threw him off balance, and despite the efforts of spectators who came to his aid, the injuries proved deadly.
The incident has left Poonch mourning the loss of a superb cricketer who served as an inspiration to many young players in the region. His passion and dedication to the game had earned him a well-known reputation in local cricket circles. Many people are now demanding for increased road safety awareness, particularly about reckless parking habits, in order to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.

Fareed Khan unfortunate demise also brought light on the past accidents involving cricketers around the world.
In May 2022, former Australian legend Andrew Symonds died in a car accident when his vehicle overturned off the road in Townsville, Queensland. Later that year, in December 2022, former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff narrowly escaped a horrific accident while filming an episode of BBC’s show Top Gear.
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was involved in a terrifying car accident on December 30, 2022. His BMW collided with a road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, leaving him with severe head, back, and leg injuries. Pant underwent an extended recovery of more than 18 months before making a return to international cricket during the T20 World Cup 2024.
