The All India Men’s Senior Selection Committee was scheduled to announce the team India squad for the 2018 Asia Cup at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, August 19. The announcement, which was scheduled to take place at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Headquarters in Mumbai, has apparently been postponed till further notice due to a flight delay and will not proceed as planned.
The aircraft delay may have caused Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar’s delayed arrival at the meeting venue, which has been exacerbated by the city’s constant rains. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a red alert in several districts of Mumbai, allowing for slow and limited traffic flow, creating inconvenience to the public.
According to rumours, the rains and airline delays have caused a postponement in the squad announcement. Amol Karhadkar, a senior journalist, has released the data on his official social media handle.
The most recent visual on JioHotstar confirms that Agarkar arrived at the BCCI Headquarters around 2PM in the afternoon, and because discussions with skipper Suryakumar Yadav will take a significant amount of time, it can be assumed that the final squad announcement will be made only around 3PM, resulting in a delay of at least an hour and a half from the scheduled time.
