According to former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli doesn’t need to play local cricket because of his unrivalled desire to serve his nation and win games. His remarks followed India’s 1-2 series defeat to New Zealand, in which the former captain finished as the team’s top scorer.
In the first game in Vadodara, Kohli hit a 91-ball 93, but in the second game in Rajkot, he was out cheaply. Although it was in a losing cause, Kohli scored 124 off 108 balls in the series finale.
Despite playing international cricket after extended pauses, Kaif respected Kohli’s ability to hit runs on a regular basis. In June of this year, India will play its next ODI series. Since retiring from Tests and Twenty20 Internationals, Kohli has undoubtedly missed the most of this season.
“Kohli has evolved into that player who is occasionally spotted these days.
However, he returns to London after scoring runs. That’s how it has become. He arrives, makes a score, and leaves. When you don’t play frequently, it is difficult to score consistently. However, it is his enthusiasm, his level of fitness, his pride in representing his nation, his understanding of the game, and his own preparation. On his YouTube channel, Kaif stated, “He has proven it.”
Kaif emphasised that since Kohli can train for international matches in different ways, he no longer needs to play domestic cricket.
He is no longer required to play domestic cricket. Although everyone can practise for a match, no market can equal his level of passion. From whence will you obtain that? He was the hope even in the final game. He went on, “Virat will defeat ten players in front of him by himself.
India and New Zealand will now play five Twenty20 Internationals against one another following an intense ODI series. On Wednesday, January 21, the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur will host the first Twenty20 International.
