Gautam Gambhir and all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham were teammates at the Lucknow Super Giants for two years. The current India coach served as the team’s mentor prior to joining the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024. Under Gambhir, Lucknow made it to the postseason in 2022 and 2023 but was never able to make it to the championship game. Nevertheless, he was crucial in creating Lucknow’s core, which will benefit the squad for many years to come.
Gowtham, meanwhile, talked candidly about what it was like to share a dressing room with the former cricket player from India. He said that Gambhir has the guts to give people the truth right to their face and never sugarcoats anything. Gowtham continued by saying that the present head coach of India is skilled at motivating the best out of his team.
“Gautam Gambhir bhai is an honest person.
He will explain everything to you in detail, including how to get ready for stressful games. He is skilled at bringing out the best in the players. It’s a different ballgame the way he inspires and speaks to a player, Gowtham remarked confidentially.
He sees to it that everyone is at ease. In addition, he ensures that good and wrong be distinguished from one another. He will never mince words either. Whatever the situation, he is direct to the point,” he continued.
Gambhir was given the opportunity to lead India as head coach by the BCCI following his 2024 IPL victory with KKR. He inked an agreement that will last until 2027. The Men in Blue, led by him, defeated Sri Lanka 0-3 in the ODI series but prevailed in the three-match T20I series.
