Genevieve Morrissey, a Clontarf all-rounder, has been added to the Ireland Under-19s Women’s team for the 2025 ICC Under-19s Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins on January 18 in Malaysia.
The ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 Event Technical Committee has formally confirmed Morrissey’s addition as a replacement for Aimee Maguire, who was previously listed as a travelling reserve for Ireland Under-19s Women.
“The squad has experienced some disruptions over the past few weeks due to forced changes, but Glenn Querl’s team is resilient, and they had a very productive training camp in Dubai,” stated Albert van der Merwe, National Talent Pathway Manager & Coach. The athletes that have joined the team will have a fantastic opportunity to advance their games and attend a global tournament.
“Replacing a squad member at a world cup is always regrettable, but Genevieve Morrissey has a great opportunity and we think she will represent her teammates, club, and family with honour at the event.”
