On Sunday, April 6, in the opening innings of the current Indian Premier League match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans in the 2025 season, Glenn Phillips appeared to have hurt himself.
While tossing the ball to the striker’s end, the New Zealander appeared to have injured his groin. Members of the GT camp were seen helping the star all-rounder hobble off the pitch. As he left the playing field, he appeared to be a little uncomfortable.
GT chose to field first after winning the toss earlier in the evening. The powerplay from SRH was inconsistent. The game’s opening over was a particularly exciting one. It appeared that the Australian southpaw got off to the start he would have preferred after Travis Head hit a couple of boundaries off Mohammed Siraj.

But the last delivery of the same oversaw Head returned to the pavilion. After a fullish delivery on the pads was chipped to midwicket, Sai Sudharsan took advantage of the situation with ease. Ishant Sharma, Siraj’s new bowling partner, gave up 24 runs in his opening two overs.
Abhishek Sharma was dismissed by Siraj’s third consecutive over. Another gentle dismissal. Siraj took his 100th IPL wicket with Abhishek’s removal. After a 16-ball 18-run knock, Abhishek returned to the shed. After the first six overs, SRH’s final score was 45/2.
Phillips’ recovery time and availability to bat in the game’s second innings are still unknown. Interestingly, Phillips was hurt after entering as a substitute. Phillips played his debut IPL match.
