In the current IPL (Indian Premier League) season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been having a lot of trouble. RCB has only won once in their last seven games, leaving them in last place in the rankings with two points.
The team seemed out of touch overall, with star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell being one of the many exceptions. In order to give himself a mental and physical break, the top player was pulled out of RCB’s most recent match against SRH.
Speaking on the subject, Maxwell stated that he is prepared to play for RCB whenever necessary and that he chose to leave the playing XI in order to allow other players in the team to get a shot at the starting lineup.
“I felt it was probably time we tried someone else, so after the last game, I went to Faf du Plessis and the coaches and made my decision, which was actually fairly simple for me. I know of no better place to keep playing than to dig oneself even deeper into a hole. I believe that this is a wonderful moment for me to take a little mental and physical break and take care of my health. In the post-match press conference, Maxwell stated, “If I’m needed to get in during the tournament, hopefully I can get back into a really solid mental and physical space where I can still have an impact.” Cricbuzz reported what Maxwell said.
I felt like I wasn’t contributing in a positive way with the bat. Glenn Maxwell
Additionally, the prominent Australian all-rounder contemplated how his ability to bat after the powerplay has been his strength throughout the years and how his incapacity to bat in the last few games has caused him to decide to take a sabbatical from the game.

“Our team has seen a significant shortfall immediately following the powerplay, which has been my strong suit in the previous two seasons. I didn’t feel like I was making a meaningful contribution with the bat, and given the outcome and our current standing, I thought it would be a good idea to give someone else a chance to showcase their skills so that, perhaps, someone might take that spot for themselves,” he stated.
