In the 24th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which took place on Wednesday, October 25, at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Australia, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell made history by recording the fastest century in the competition’s history. The 35-year-old broke records by reaching the milestone in just 40 balls and producing an incredible 106 off 44 balls hit.
Even though Glenn Maxwell smashed nine fours and eight sixes during his innings, one of his shots left everyone in disbelief when he struck a 136 mph offering from Bas de Leede for a six with an incredible switch hit. The Dutch seamer bowled a decently paced fullish delivery on the leg stump on the second ball of the 47th over.
To counter it, though, Maxwell pulled out his go-to weapon from his armory and executed an absurd switch-hit to send it sailing over deep point for maximum damage. Maxwell achieved his half-century in just 27 balls thanks to his astounding shot, and he changed tactics to mount an all-out assault on the Netherlands.

Later in the over, the Australian batsman launched De Leede for another six over third man with another switch-hit on the fourth ball of the over. After those two shots, Maxwell went into beast mode on the Dutch and quickly reached his hundred.
Glenn Maxwell gave his knock to a boy who had just been born.
The daring batter gave his knock to his newborn son as a special way to commemorate turning 100. Notably, in September 2023, the Australian celebrity and his spouse Vini Raman had their first child, Logan Maverick Maxwell.
In the meantime, Aiden Markram’s record for the fastest century in the ODI World Cup was shattered by Maxwell. Markram had reached the milestone in 49 balls against Sri Lanka in the fourth game of the current edition at the same location (Delhi).
Thanks to centuries from Maxwell and David Warner (104 off 93), Australia amassed an enormous 399/8 in the 50 overs that were allocated to them.
