Indian pace bowling star Jasprit Bumrah has been sidelined since early January 2025 after suffering a lower back injury that was initially believed to be caused by stress. Following that, he was unable to attend the most recent Champions Trophy, and he will likely miss a few Mumbai Indians games at the beginning of the 2025 NBA season.
In a recent interview, former Australian seamer Glenn McGrath talked about Jasprit Bumrah resilience.
He did advise the ace pacer to handle his workload “smarter” moving forward, though.
“Compared to the other bowlers, he puts more strain on his body.” Sadly, he hasn’t always been able to manage it successfully. Since he has experience recovering from injuries, he will have the most knowledge about the time needed for recuperation and working out. Since he is older, he needs to be more astute in his actions, McGrath told the Times of India.
Fast bowling is similar to operating a vehicle: Glenn McGrath
By using the example of a car and its fuel tank, the former Australian cricket player related Bumrah’s off-field preparation to his own.
Outside of the field, he needs to put forth even more effort. Fast bowling is similar to operating a vehicle. Eventually, you will run out of fuel if you don’t fill it up early. Due to my slower bowling speed, my fuel tank was larger than Jasprit’s. These people are excellent at what they do. India needs him if they are being manipulated,” he continued.
Bumrah had a lot of bowling to accomplish when India toured Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024–25. A staggering 151.2 overs were bowled by the bowler in nine innings. Numerous reports circulated that the pacer’s breakdown at the end of the series was caused by the undue strain placed on Bumrah.
