On Sunday, March 9, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Glenn Phillips chose to once again dazzle the cricket community with his exceptional athleticism during the 2025 Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand.
Phillips demonstrated that he is just as skilled in other parts of the field after dismissing Virat Kohli and Mohammad Rizwan in the group stage with two one-handed stunners at backward point.
India had already sped to 105 in the 19th over without losing a wicket, and New Zealand was in dire need of a breakthrough.
Glenn Phillips provided the unique element they needed in the field to break the opening stand.
Gill hammered the shot towards cover after Mitchell Santner produced a flighted delivery on off-stump.
Phillips leaped high in the air, just to his right, and caught the ball with one hand, even though it looked like it would reach the boundary quickly. The catch was made in a just 0.78 seconds of reaction time. However, Phillips’ excellent fielding abilities made it appear quite simple.

Rohit and Kohli are removed quickly after each other as the Kiwis continue to fight.
Virat Kohli was summoned to the crease by Phillips’ incredible performance. However, after facing two balls and being out LBW to Michael Bracewell, the in-form hitter was removed for one. New Zealand was cock-a-whoop, but when Kohli took the DRS, it came back with three reds.
New batter Shreyas Iyer was under pressure from the Blackcaps, and Rohit Sharma, who had sped to an incredible half-century, was also having trouble finding the gaps. During this stage, New Zealand bowled a number of dot balls. Rohit blasted Rachin Ravindra out of the park in an attempt to break the shackles. But he didn’t account for the turn, and Tom Latham out-stuck him. Only 16 runs were scored off 42 deliveries by Rohit and Shreyas’ combination. The Asian powerhouses fell to 122/3 in the 27th over after being 105/0 in the 19th.
