On Saturday, April 19, Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals in Match 35 of the current IPL at the Narendra Modi Stadium by seven wickets and four deliveries remaining. GT took the lead in the points table with this victory.
DC’s innings got off to a strong start thanks to Abishek Porel, who hit two fours and a six in the first over before being dismissed for 18 in the next. In his second over, Mohammed Siraj gave up 17 runs. By the end of the powerplay, DC had sped to 73, and in the ninth over of their innings, they had hit 100. Tristan Stubbs and Karun Nair both contributed 31. With a quick 37 off 19, Ashutosh Sharma helped DC reach 203/8. Despite his high cost, Prasidh Krishna took four wickets. Shubman Gill was run out early, but GT answered with 67/1 in their powerplay.
After dismissing the dangerous Sai Sudharsan and giving up just two runs in his opening over, Kuldeep Yadav reversed the tide of the match with a tight spell. With Buttler and Rutherford at the crease, GT needed to score 110 runs off the last 10 overs. Buttler gave it his all to lead his team to victory, while Rutherford, who entered as an Impact Player, served as the anchor. On his way to an undefeated 97-run knock, the wicketkeeper-batter hit Mitchell Starc for five boundaries in an over.
