Sanju Samson’s team defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) despite a late charge from MS Dhoni in Chennai, giving Rajasthan Royals (RR) a razor-thin victory in the lion’s lair. Jos Buttler of Rajasthan, who spearheaded his team’s effort with a skillfully compiled half-century in the first innings, was given the highest praise by former Indian ace Harbhajan Singh.
Jos Buttler, the white-ball captain for England, was the competition’s top run-scorer in the previous season. He has had a strong start to IPL 2023, scoring three half-centuries in as many games. His most recent fifty came in a last-ball thriller in Chennai against the four-time winners, CSK. After a couple fast wickets, Jos Buttler consolidated the innings by taking the CSK bowlers to the ground in the powerplay.
After his crucial innings in Chennai, the fiery English opener was crowned Player of the Match. Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian spinner who currently plays for CSK, praised the English star and hailed him as the best batter in the world right now.
“I was at a loss for words while praising Jos Buttler. He is a competent cricket batter. He has excellent technique, makes excellent use of the crease, and has superb footwork while dealing with pace and spin. He is currently, in my opinion, the best batter in cricket worldwide. Speaking on Star Sports, Harbhajan
Jos Buttler scored 3,000 runs in the IPL.
Buttler scored 52 runs against the Yellow Army during his innings, passing the 3000 run mark in the IPL. Buttler became the third fastest to achieve the mark behind KL Rahul (80 innings) and Chris Gayle (75 innings) after playing his 85th game in the lucrative tournament.
After the first innings, Buttler, who had recently had a hand injury, was replaced by popular Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa. The Rajasthan-based team will be hoping the Englishman can maintain his amazing start to the season in the remaining games as well. The Englishman’s form at the top of the order has been essential for his side thus far.
