Harbhajan Singh, a former cricketer for India, has made some intriguing decisions in his opinions about how India should field for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. In a hybrid format, the international event will take place in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates from February 19 to March 9 following months of deadlock.
As per Harbhajan, Axar Patel is prepared to take Ravindra Jadeja’s place. The Gujarat all-rounder has recently shown remarkable improvement in his batting, although he was always a strong left-arm spinner. For the eight-team event, only one of the two spin-bowling all-rounders may be selected for India’s side. The Delhi Capitals player is expected to make the cut, according to Harbhajan.
Over Ravindra Jadeja, I’ve selected Axar Patel. “I believe Axar is prepared to take over the role that Jadeja has played for so long,” Harbhajan posted on his YouTube page.
Due to his inability to produce the goods, Jadeja’s form has been a bit of a concern lately. Axar, meanwhile, has increased his strength and demonstrated his ability on a global scale.
KL Rahul’s relaxation isn’t a huge deal: Harbhajan Singh.
There is also disagreement over whether India should select Sanju Samson or Rishabh Pant for the Champions Trophy team. The most likely candidate to wear the wicketkeeping gloves at the main event appears to be KL Rahul. Pant or Samson could be selected to be the team’s second wicketkeeper.
Samson made history in 2024 when he became the first batter to reach three hundred runs in Twenty20 Internationals in a single year. In contrast, last year’s white-ball format did not see Rishabh Pant have a particularly successful run with the bat.
Samson should be included in the Indian team instead of Pant, according to Harbhajan, since the latter had a lengthy tour in Australia and may take a break during the Champions Trophy.
“Rishabh Pant or Sanju Samson should be chosen, in my opinion. Sanju played in South Africa, thus I think he should be given preference. Since the tour was lengthy and Rishabh performed well in Australia, Harbhajan continued, “it won’t be a huge deal if he takes a break.
