India posted a respectable total of 188/8 after winning the toss and choosing to bat first against Oman in an insignificant Group A match on Friday, September 19, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Hardik Pandya was elevated to fourth in the batting order during the first innings.
However, the star all-rounder just faced one delivery before being run out at the non-striker’s end in the eighth over. Pandya was backing up a little too far when Sanju Samson smacked a straight drive back at left-arm bowler Jiten Ramanandi. While Ramanandi failed to seize a difficult opportunity, he parried the ball towards the stumps and caught the Baroda player short of his crease.
Ramanandi bowled the penultimate over, which resulted in an identical dismissal. Harshit Rana drilled the ball back at the bowler. Ramanandi deflected the ball to the stumps at the non-striker’s end. Arshdeep Singh had disaster this time. The Punjab speedster had no opportunity of getting back into the crease.
