Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans (GT) captain, has put an end to reports of a feud with Hardik Pandya following their IPL 2025 Eliminator battle. Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time winners, won a vital knockout game against GT on May 30 in New Chandigarh.
There was talk of friction between Gill and Pandya when recordings from the toss showed both skippers allegedly exchanging angry stares. The conversation heated up when Pandya appeared to applaud Gill’s dismissal too passionately, which was misinterpreted as a disagreement between them.
However, Gill rejected the accusations by posting a story on Instagram with the caption, “Nothing but love (Don’t believe everything you see on the internet).” Pandya also responded with a narrative, stating, “Always, Shubhu baby,” thereby silencing the rumours.

In terms of the contest, MI scored a commanding 228 runs in the first innings, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s stunning 81 off 50 balls. Jonny Bairstow, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma all contributed to MI’s batting performance. GT’s Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore each took two wickets.
GT scored 208 runs in the chase, but fell 20 runs short. Sai Sudharsan, GT’s opener, led the way with 80 off 49, while Washington Sundar added 48 off 24. Despite the middle order’s efforts to finish the chase, GT was unable to cross the line and was eliminated from the tournament. Trent Boult picked up two wickets for MI’s bowling department.
MI won and moved to Qualifier 2, where they will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) on June 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The victor of that match will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 Final on June 3, which will again take place in Ahmedabad.
