Fast bowler Haris Rauf has come under fire from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for choosing not to go with the national team for the upcoming Test series against Australia in 2023–24. The termination resulted from the PCB’s dissatisfaction with the decision.
A PCB committee held a thorough hearing procedure prior to making the termination, which will take effect on December 1, 2023. Rauf is also prohibited until June 30, 2024, from getting a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) in order to participate in international T20 leagues.
Haris Rauf has been given the opportunity by PCB management to give his side of the story at a private hearing on January 30, 2024. But because of his lack of a response that aligned with natural justice principles, his contract’s termination clause was put into effect.
A press statement from the PCB emphasized that for any athlete, representing Pakistan is a huge honor and privilege. It was determined that Haris Rauf had seriously broken his contract when he refused to join the test squad without submitting a legitimate medical report or an acceptable explanation.
With a total of 160 wickets taken in 37 ODIs, 66 T20Is, and one Test match, Haris Rauf has represented Pakistan thus far.
This development occurred shortly after the departure of Pakistan cricket team director Mohammed Hafeez, indicating a moment of major restructuring and recalibration in the sport.
