Harjas Singh is a person. In the World Cup final versus India, Australia's U19 batter from Chandigarh scored the most runs.

In the U19 World Cup final, Harjas Singh scored a resolute fifty-seven against India. Hugh Weibgen (48), Oliver Peake (46*), and opener Harry Dixon (42*) all contributed significantly to Australia’s victory with 253 runs, while he scored 55 from 64 deliveries.

The 19-year-old all-rounder, Harjas, was particularly struggling in the competition, scoring 49 runs in six games. However, on the final night, at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, he rose to the occasion and produced an innings to remember. He batted when the Kangaroos were down to 99/3, but he did not back down and ended up scoring Australia’s greatest individual total in the summit match.

Five years after his parents’ decision to relocate from Chandigarh, in Punjab, to Australia, Harjas, an Indian, was born in Sydney in 2005. He joined the Revesby Workers Cricket Club at the age of eight, having always loved cricket as a child. He subsequently continued on to play for Fairfield’s Westfield Sports High School.

Sports run in the family: Avinder Kaur, the mother, was a state-level long jump competitor, and her father, Inderjit, was a state boxing champion in Punjab. The cricket player disclosed prior to the World Cup that he last traveled to India in 2015 and that his uncle still resides in Punjab.

“My family is still in Chandigarh and Amritsar.” We own a home in Sector 44-D, but I haven’t been there since 2015. After that, cricket took over, so I was never given the chance.

Times Now cited Harjas Singh as stating, “My uncle still lives there.”

Harjas Singh made headlines when he knocked out the final, saying that it took him some time to calm himself and resolve to punish the bad balls. His greatest strength, he further disclosed, is playing spin.

“The pacers and spinners bowled brilliantly in the beginning. With the field stretched out, I took my time and hit the terrible balls when they were there. My strength lies in playing spin, and our trip to Sri Lanka during the off-season has been really beneficial to me. Considering our bowling performance and the quality of our quicks, we are pleased with this total. We’re hoping to defend it,” Harjas stated.
