After the UP Warriorz defeated the Mumbai Indians Women in Match No. 8 of the Women’s Premier League 2026 at Navi Mumbai, Harleen Deol and Abhishek Nayar came up and expressed their hearts, putting an end to all the rumours surrounding their feud. In less than twenty-four hours, Harleen Deol, who had been requested to retire herself out by Nayar in the previous match, went back to the pitch and turned her life around.
Harleen Deol head coach gave her a lot of praise after she defeated the reigning champions with an undefeated 64 off 39. Additionally, Nayar described how the team’s tactical decisions were reflected in the decision to retire the star batter in the prior game. The right-handed batter’s comprehension of the team’s needs and how it demonstrates her maturity as a player were also praised by the coach.
“We considered the roles that we believed people should perform before we began the timeout. You constantly consider the team to be at the forefront of each action you do. We believed Harleen Deol had performed well at the time. We were in control. “We felt that those roles were made for those specific players, so we thought that if we could get those extra 30 to 40 runs in that phase,” Nayar told WPL following the game.
“The team is everything to her. Her primary concern has always been what the team needs. Every player’s belief in the team’s ethos is always beneficial. “Harleen Deol exemplifies what it means to be a team player,” Nayar said with assurance.
Harleen Deol thanks captain Meg Lanning and Nayar for their maiden victory.
The Chandigarh native appeared to be a different player than she had been in her prior games this season, which helped her team get their first points. The 27-year-old was more than eager to do the task for the Warriorz, remarking that it was simpler to bat the wicket than it was in the match against the Delhi Capitals. She honoured captain Meg Lanning and head coach Nayar after the season’s first victory.
In actuality, the wicket was different today than yesterday. I just wanted to play for a long time because I had a lot of boundaries at first. I understood the tempo. And all I wanted to do was keep doing that. I understand that. Additionally, it was a very pleasant wicket to bat on. I simply wanted to get it done,” Harleen Deol remarked.
“The wicket was much better [to bat] today.” Thus, the key for me today was to comprehend that. Because I am aware that they have competent speed bowlers. For example, which bowler I could attack. That was my only activity for the day. Nothing more. Meg Lanning and Mr. Abhishek Nayar’s first victory [of the season], she said.
On Saturday, January 17, Harleen will play for the Warriorz in a rematch against the MI, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, at the same location. Before the action shifts to the second leg in Vadodara, she will be sure to deliver a similar effort and lead the team to their second win of the season.
