Harshal Patel made IPL history with a flawless dipping yorker during the current match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The yorker also earned him a wicket. After taking out Aiden Markram with a stunning slow-dipping yorker, Patel became the fastest Indian bowler to record 150 IPL wickets in just 117 games.
LSG entered the game hoping to finish in the top four, while SRH, already eliminated from postseason contention, entered the game hoping to preserve pride. With the expectation that the pitch would aid his seamers in the second half, Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl. As he led LSG to a strong position with a 61 off 38 balls, Markram appeared to be in form. The pair stitched a 115-run opening partnership in only 10.3 overs with Mitchell Marsh (65 off 39).
But Harshal Patel missed the crease and hit middle stump with a slow-dipping yorker in the sixteenth over, which is when the incident happened.
Patel’s 150th IPL wicket came after Markram, expecting a full toss, positioned himself to make a huge shot, but the ball slipped under his bat, dipped late, and crashed into the stumps. His achievement made him the fastest Indian to reach the milestone, surpassing both Yuzvendra Chahal (118 matches) and Jasprit Bumrah (124).

Despite LSG’s flying start, 108 runs without loss in the first 10 overs, SRH’s bowlers made an impressive comeback. Eshan Malinga ended with 2 for 28, including the wickets of Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni. Harsh Dubey also chipped in by dismissing Marsh. Eventually, LSG could only manage 205/7 in their 20 overs. Chasing 206, SRH started well. Though they lost Atharva Taide early, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan kept the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the fourth over, SRH were 52/1, scoring at 13 runs per over.
