After being signed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for INR 12.50 crore in the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025 mega-auction last year, Josh Hazlewood returned to the team. The renowned Australian pacer recently told the famous Virat Kohli about his time bowling in the RCB nets.
According to Hazlewood, his colleagues are motivated to work harder by Kohli’s commitment and fierce competition at the nets. Hazlewood added that the squad benefits from Kohli’s aggressive batting style since it keeps the scoreboard moving.
“You might just be going through the motions when you show up for training feeling a little flat. However, it really puts you in gear when you look down and see him 22 yards away. Particularly in the middle, training turns into a struggle. In an RCB Bold Diaries video, Hazlewood stated, “He definitely has that aura about him.”
“I have the utmost regard for his actions in the game and his current actions. He’s a player who attacks you and makes his shots, which is always good because it advances the scoreboard,” he continued.
The right-arm seamer and Kohli have engaged in some exciting matches in international cricket. In all formats, he has thrown out the former captain of India eleven times.
Bowling to a player like Kohli in the nets is a fantastic way to be ready for the games, according to Josh Hazlewood.
“In any format, he’s a huge wicket for us.” He pushes you hard in the nets because he has scored hundreds of runs against us in all formats. You feel prepared for the game by the time you’re done,” Hazlewood said.
Hazlewood and Virat Kohli both played well as RCB defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) handily in the season opener. Even though the bowler took two wickets, RCB triumphed by seven wickets thanks to Kohli’s brilliant half-century. On Friday, March 28, the Rajat Patidar-led team will play their second match in Chepauk against the Chennai Super Kings.
