Heinrich Klaasen, the star batsman for South Africa, has been in the news a lot lately after the International Cricket Council (ICC) penalised him for violating their code of conduct. Due to a Level 1 violation of the ICC Code of Conduct, the star hitter was fined 15% of his match fee.
In addition, his disciplinary record now includes one demerit point for breaking Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Staff. It’s important to remember that he was fined for kicking the stumps after being dismissed in the second ODI of the current series against Pakistan.
In the second ODI, Heinrich Klaasen was the Proteas’ most notable player.
Klaasen scored 97 runs in 74 deliveries while trying to chase down a target of 330 runs, but his knock was insufficient to give the Proteas the victory.
In the third ODI, South Africa hopes to win consolingly.
In reference to the current ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan, the Proteas have not been particularly memorable. Having completed two ODIs, Pakistan has won both matches. The Men in Green had another strong performance in Cape Town after winning by three wickets in Paarl.
With the help of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, who struck 80 and 73 runs, respectively, Pakistan amassed 329 runs in the second ODI after coming in to bat first. With the help of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, they were also able to restrict South Africa to a total of 248 runs, as Pakistan won by 81 runs.
After winning the series, Pakistan will concentrate on the third and last ODI. The Proteas are hoping for a consolation win, while the Men in Green are hoping for a complete sweep. On Sunday, December 22, the third ODI between the two teams will take place at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
