Heinrich Klaasen’s incredible performance during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) game against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 on Wednesday, March 27, left veteran South African all-rounder Lance Klusener in complete admiration. Klusener believes that South Africa has set unparalleled standards in the Twenty20 format. Klusener is now the assistant coach of the Lucknow Super Giants. The wicketkeeper-batter scored the most runs in tournament history—277—for SRH during the game with a blistering 34-ball 80*.
For some time now, Klusener believes Klaasen has been dominating the shortest format. He went on to say that no other cricket player in the modern era possesses the wicketkeeper-batter’s fearless batting style.
When we used to play cricket, things were different. These days, batting has a different approach, and Twenty20 cricket is an incredible and entertaining sport. I watched parts of last night’s game between the Mumbai Indians and Hyderabad Sunrisers, but Klaasen was outstanding, and his batting in the IPL is really commendable,” Klusener was cited by the Hindustan Times as saying.

Heinrich Klaasen possesses a solid grasp of the game’s structure.
I don’t think anyone in the world is close to him right now because of the way he bats, which has set new standards for the game. This is the kind of batting that MS Dhoni did for Team India for a very long time,” the 52-year-old continued.
Lance Klusener continued to compliment Heinrich Klaasen’s batting style, saying he had the correct vision. Klaasen has a fantastic swing, power, and style. He said that the 32-year-old puts forth a lot of effort in the net and can play against the swing.
“Klaasen knows the location from which he can collect maximum runs, and he can hit the ball with sheer force and vision to hit it as per his pick. He technically has a terrific swing, power, and flair, and he works hard to prepare for the match. The T20 cricket team showcased a diverse range of hitting from the younger generation, who also ensured a rapid tempo on the scoreboard. The game’s record-breaking score was enjoyable to witness. Good batting conditions allowed the batsmen to score a lot of runs, while the bowling was subpar. Klusener declared, “That’s the new IPL standard.”
“Batters are now more proficient and creative in their approach. Our era was not as inventive as it is now, but T20 cricket has given the younger generation a platform to showcase their diverse bowling and batting abilities, and as a result, the spirit of cricket is quite strong,” he continued.
