One of the quick bowlers to keep an eye on in the 2026 U19 World Cup is Henil Patel. The competition began on Thursday, January 15. At the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Patel wrecked havoc in the opening match between India and the USA, taking five wickets.
Prior to the World Cup, the Gujarati right-arm pacer expressed his admiration for South Africa’s renowned quick Dale Steyn. Patel went on to say that the former cricket player’s anger is his favourite trait.
I really enjoy Dale Steyn’s aggression, which is what I get from him. Before the event, Henil had told ICC that his bowling was so superb that no hitter could play against him easy because he was so difficult to deal with.
Henil seven-over session on Thursday ended with impressive scores of 5/16.
He sent three of the top four batters in the USA lineup back to the hut because he was so hot with the new ball. In order to complete his five-for, the 18-year-old returned with an older ball and took two lower-order wickets in the 35th over.
Henil later disclosed that his strategy to target the stumps and try to eliminate a batter before he could position himself up at the crease was the key to his success.
“I try to get the batter out in three or four balls.” I prepare my body and approach training with the right mindset, and I do the same during a game. “Taking early wickets is crucial,” Henil stated.
On Thursday, the USA were bowled out for a mere 107 in 35.2 overs. With six wickets remaining, India easily won the 18th over in response. Rain caused the aim to be changed to 96 in 37 overs.
India’s attention will now turn to their campaign’s second game, which they play against Bangladesh. On Saturday, January 17, this intriguing match will take place in Bulawayo.
