In an attempt to build on his victory over the Gujarat Titans, Shikhar Dhawan traveled to Mullanpur. Instead, the Punjab Kings lost to the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad team by two runs on Tuesday, marking their third defeat of the season.
Arshdeep Singh took four wickets; however, Nitish Reddy’s tremendous 64-run performance eclipsed his effort. The Punjab Kings, who have a reputation for being erratic, have suffered yet another setback following their defeat on Tuesday.
Prior to an IPL season, the PBKS management has frequently faced questions from the fans regarding their decision-making process. This season appears to be just another instance of how spending money hasn’t always worked out. After losing to SRH, PBKS will now need to improve as they prepare for important games in the upcoming weeks.
Comforts of home to aid the Punjab Kings in their playoff run?
The fact that the Punjab Kings will be playing their next three games at home will give Shikhar Dhawan encouragement. The Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans visit Mullanpur next, then the Rajasthan Royals.
PBKS will benefit from winning two of the three games played at home if it wants to make the top four. If they triumph in two of those three games or in all three, they will have won five of the eight matches, earning ten points overall.

But when PBKS travels to play their next two games away from home, they will face their biggest challenges. The first trip will be to Eden Gardens to play the Kolkata Knight Riders, which will come after a CSK match in Chennai. Though it is still possible for PBKS to win those games, history points to a different conclusion.
Then, in their rematch against CSK and RCB, Shikhar Dhawan’s team will host two matches in Dharamshala. PBKS would have played twelve games by now, and they should ideally have seven victories from those twelve games to earn 14 points.
The season’s final two games are both away from home, with the first one taking place against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. When PBKS plays SRH away from home in the final game of the season, the playoff spots might already be determined.
