Bengaluru police disclosed how Virat Kohli was brought into the Bengaluru stampede investigation after a report was filed about his probable participation. HM Venkatesh, an activist, filed a complaint against the RCB star at the Cubbon Park Police Station, despite the fact that the aforementioned individual had filed no First Information Report against him.
According to Venkatesh, Virat Kohli promoted gambling through the IPL, claiming that the league had corrupted the game of cricket.
According to police, Venkatesh believes Virat incited people to congregate at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, resulting in the tragedy. The activist asked cops to register a FIR against the RCB opener.
“The IPL is not a sport, but rather gambling that has tainted the game of cricket. Virat Kohli of the Bangalore RCB squad is the most renowned of those who engaged in such gambling, inciting people to congregate in a certain location, resulting in this catastrophe. Therefore, we beg you to please make Virat Kohli and his team members implicated in the FIR of this tragedy and take action,” Venkatesh stated in his complaint, according to the Hindustan Times.
Key details about the Bengaluru stampede event
The complaint makes it clear that Venkatesh’s grievance had nothing to do with the Bengaluru stampede. However, the police at Cubbon Park Station have guaranteed that they are striving to solve the issue in accordance with the ongoing stampede investigation.
So far, four RCB management members have been arrested. Nikhil Sosale, a major member of the RCB’s social media team, was arrested along with three other DNA Agency employees who helped plan the event. Cubbon Park police and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) collaborated to ensure they remained in judicial detention for 14 days.
The Karnataka High Court, on the other hand, has given interim relief to KSCA officers, omitting them from the FIR in question. Sosale has filed a challenge in the Karnataka High Court, arguing that his arrest was made without a prior investigation or appropriate proof.
