As Royal Challengers Bengaluru gets ready to play Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 13, captain Rajat Patidar spoke to the media prior to the game. As a carbon-neutral team, RCB will wear their unique green jersey, an annual tradition to promote environmental awareness.
Patidar talked about his strategy for being captain, saying he is attempting to concentrate on his strong points and avoid taking on extra work because of the leadership role.
After winning three of his first five games as captain, Patidar’s transfer to the position has gone smoothly and he has made an immediate impression.
“I don’t feel the strain of being captain when I’m batting, but when I’m on the pitch, I view myself as captain. I don’t feel pressured to do anything different because I am the team’s leader; instead, I concentrate on my strengths with the bat. Patidar told reporters the night before the match against the Rajasthan Royals, “Even in domestic cricket, I try to stay in the moment and do my best for the team.”
Even though RCB hasn’t figured out how to win at home yet, they have won six points by defeating the Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians away from home. The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has hosted RCB’s two defeats, one to the Delhi Capitals and the other to the Gujarat Titans. When questioned about the location, Patidar stated that the team’s goal is to perform to the best of its abilities and that he doesn’t care where his players finish.
“We approach each game separately. We try to take advantage of it if everyone feels confident. We won’t worry about the location; we’ll concentrate on playing quality cricket. Wearing the green jersey makes the game much more exciting and special for us because of our green mission.
Rajasthan Royals, with two victories and three defeats in five games, are now in seventh place in the points standings, whereas RCB is in fifth place.
