As the league phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 draws to a close, the placements of the qualified clubs remain unclear, adding to the tournament’s suspense. The match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 26 will decide one of the Qualifier 1 slots. The Loser of the Match will face the Eliminator.
Aakash Chopra, a former India cricketer, offered his playoff predictions while discussing the qualification scenario.
According to the former player, MI and RCB will play Qualifier 1, while GT and PBKS will play the Eliminator.
Meanwhile, RCB’s penultimate league encounter against LSG is on May 27, and if they win, they would advance to Qualifier 1. For Aakash Chopra’s prophecies to come true, MI and RCB must win their next matches.
“Mumbai wants to win this match; if they do, they will finish in the top two. It didn’t appear that this could happen. This never seemed plausible, but with all of the other teams losing so many games, it appears that it could happen today. If they lose this match, they will not qualify (for Qualifier 1). On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra stated, “It’s not like they were given it on a platter.”
“I believe the scales are skewed towards Mumbai since the team is looking better. They’re moving like a juggernaut. Stopping them appears to be difficult. I believe Mumbai and RCB will finish first and second, and the final would be between the two,” Chopra concluded.
This IPL 2025 has become extremely exciting in recent days, with the qualified teams losing their prior matches to the eliminated teams. As a result, the upcoming league-stage matchups will be exciting for fans to watch.
