The Indian Premier League (IPL) is something that Aaron Jones, a top hitter for the USA, has stated he hopes to play in soon. “I want to play in the IPL soon,” the right-handed batter—who made waves in the 2024 T20 World Cup with his undefeated score of 94 against Canada—shared on social media.

Aaron Jones steady play at the top level has made him one of USA Cricket’s poster boys.
Additionally, he received the ICC Men’s Associate Batting Performance of the Year award.
Jones also played a key role in leading the Saint Lucia Kings win their first-ever Caribbean Premier League (CPL) championship in 2024. He returned the team’s faith with a knock of 48* in the final, guiding them out of a crisis to obtain a remarkable victory, even though he was out for the majority of the competition.
In spite of his successes, the 30-year-old was not one of the 577 players selected for the IPL 2025 super auction that was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in November. In the auction, 210 cricket players from abroad and 367 Indians were vying for 204 spots, 70 of which were open to foreign players.
Notably, other American celebrities including Ali Khan, Saurabh Netravalkar, and Unmukt Chand were offered but never sold. His desire could come true in a season as the IPL becomes more welcoming to players from Associate nations.
Jones was excluded from the USA team for the World Cup League 2 tri-series earlier in 2024, allegedly because of disagreements with USA Cricket on his choice to participate in the CPL rather than tour Namibia. But that decision was probably made because of his outstanding performance with the Saint Lucia Kings.
