On Tuesday, April 8, Priyansh Arya, the batting sensation for the Punjab Kings (PBKS), put the opposing bowlers on notice by blasting an incredible century off of 39 balls against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mullanpur.
In a game-winning 103 off 42 balls, the Delhi left-hander blasted seven fours and nine sixes. Only 23 runs were scored by the other batters in the top six. CSK was held to 201/5 after Punjab scored 219/6.
After that spectacular knock, Priyansh has been the talk of the town. In a recent statement, the 24-year-old discussed how his position behind the stumps increased the strain on him while batting and how he lost the chance to meet the great MS Dhoni after the game.
“Playing against Dhoni, sir, is a really fortunate opportunity for me. In addition to the presence of famous bowlers like Ashwin, he was under pressure while he was behind the wickets.
“Dhoni sir was already off the pitch when I wanted to speak with him,” Priyansh stated in an interview.
Before the 2025 Indian Premier League season, Priyansh described how captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting of PBKS gave him confidence. In the last encounter against the Rajasthan Royals, Priyansh claimed that the former captain of Australia assured him not to worry about getting out on a duck. However, Shreyas promised the child that he will participate in all 14 IPL 2025 games for the team.
“I felt more confident after Ricky Sir told me that anyone may be out first ball. He said that if you get the same ball, you should hit it out of the park. I constantly getting advice from Ricky Sir to get better at pull shots. “We only discuss mindset; we haven’t worked with him on the technical front,” Arya stated.
Before the CSK game, Shreyas bhai instructed me to follow my instincts when I saw the ball in the nets. He had assured me I would play all 14 games prior to the season as well. Both Ricky Sir and Shreyas remained silent following the first-ball dismissal. You’ll feel more confident after that,” he continued.
