Teams from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 have travelled widely between locations in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Travel distances for other teams were considerable, but India’s matches were limited to Dubai, which sparked discussions about an unfair advantage. However, prior to the competition, no formal concerns were voiced. Players in franchise leagues like the IPL, for example, frequently travel great distances without complaining.
Team India had the shortest travel distance, measuring 0 kilometres (KM), since they had played all of their games in Dubai. Approximately 1,020 kilometres were traversed by England, who played all of their group-stage matches in Pakistan before losing. Playing their games in Karachi, Dubai, and Rawalpindi, Pakistan travelled roughly 3,133 kilometres. Afghanistan travelled 1,200 kilometres for their first match in Karachi and the remaining matches in Lahore.
Bangladesh travelled over 1,953 km to play their next two matches in Rawalpindi after playing India in Dubai. Australia also made a lot of travel, starting in Lahore, then to Rawalpindi, returning to Lahore, and then going to Dubai for the semifinals, which totalled about 2,509 miles.
As they advanced to the Champions Trophy final, New Zealand travelled the most.
In addition to playing four games, South Africa took five flights, going from Karachi to Rawalpindi and Dubai before returning to Lahore for their semifinal matchup with New Zealand. In all, they travelled about 3,286 kilometres.
At 7,048 kilometres, New Zealand’s journey was the longest. They played in Karachi, Rawalpindi, Dubai, and Lahore before going back to Dubai to play India in the final.
