Women's World Cup 2025: ICC confirms commentators and broadcast upgrades

All ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 matches will be produced for live broadcast by ICC TV, ensuring that fans around the world can watch every moment as the eight top nations battle in a round-robin style across five venues from September 30 to November 2.

Each game will be caught by at least 30 cameras and supplemented with analytical tools and visual innovations to provide an exciting viewing experience, accompanied by experienced commentators.

A star-studded, female-led commentary crew will give viewers with expert perspectives. Mel Jones, Isa Guha, Stacy-Ann King, and Julia Price will join former captains Mithali Raj, Sana Mir, Nasser Hussain, and Anjum Chopra behind the microphone.

Aaron Finch, Carlos Brathwaite, and Dinesh Karthik, who won the ICC men’s silverware, will be joined by former international talents Katey Martin, Ian Bishop, Natasha Farrant, Mpumelelo Mbangwa, and Russell Arnold.

The lineup includes established broadcasters Natalie Germanos, Alan Wilkins, and Kass Naidoo, as well as young broadcasters Raunak Kapoor and Jatin Sapru.

Mel Jones

“The Women’s World Cup has become a showcase not just of cricketing talent, but of the sport’s global growth and momentum. To see it unfold across India and Sri Lanka, where cricket is woven into the cultural fabric, will make this edition even more vibrant. The energy from the stands, the skills on the field, and the stories behind the players will make this a compelling spectacle. And of course, I’ll be keeping a close eye on how the defending champions Australia approach the challenge of extending their remarkable record in global tournaments.”

Mithali Raj

“To witness the Women’s World Cup being staged across India and Sri Lanka is deeply gratifying. It’s not only about celebrating the best in the world, but also about inspiring a new generation of girls who dream of playing cricket. Having been part of this journey as a player, I’m excited to now share insights from the commentary box and shine a light on the players who will shape the future of our sport.”

Nasser Hussain

“Every World Cup is about more than just the cricket. It’s about the journeys, the rivalries, and the way the game continues to evolve. Women’s cricket has taken giant strides over the last decade, and this tournament will be another reminder of how far it has come. The passion of the subcontinent crowds will add a unique dimension, and I can’t wait to be part of telling those stories from the commentary box.”

Sana Mir

“The ICC Women’s World Cup is always a landmark occasion, bringing together the best talent from across the globe to compete at the highest level. I have some wonderful memories of playing in this event which has seen some fine contests over the years, and the game is only becoming pacier. I wish all the players the very best!”

Katey Martin

“The Women’s World Cup in India and Sri Lanka promises to be a contest full of quality and intensity. Fans will see the established stars they know and love, but also some exciting young talent breaking through. From a New Zealand lens, there’s a real sense of pride in seeing how far the White Ferns have come, and it will be fascinating to see how they carry that momentum into the 50-over format. It’s an honour to be involved once again in such a prestigious tournament, this time from behind the microphone.”

Isa Guha

“The ICC Women’s World Cup is the pinnacle of the women’s game, and every edition feels bigger than the last. This tournament is a celebration of the very best players in the world coming together on one stage, pushing the boundaries of skill, athleticism, and resilience. As someone who has worn the England colours, I know how much these events mean to players and fans back home, and I’ll be watching closely to see how they rise to the occasion. It’s an event that inspires future generations and showcases just how far the women’s game has come, and I’m thrilled to be part of sharing that story with fans everywhere.”

ICC TV’s full production methodology will allow broadcasters to seamlessly deliver matches, avoiding the need for additional on-site presentation facilities.

In addition to live coverage, fans can expect a 30-minute pre-game build-up, in-depth innings interval programming, and a post-game wrap-up, resulting in a thoroughly entertaining viewing experience from first ball to last.

JioStar, the production services partner, will support the world-class production, while NEP will provide equipment support.

The Decision Review System (DRS), which is powered by Hawk-Eye’s Smart Replay system, will once again be at the centre of the broadcast, providing synchronised multi-angle replays for quick and precise decisions. Hawk-Eye will also offer Piero graphics for tactical and technical analysis.

WTVision will supply the score graphics, with Cricviz delivering deep cricket data and analytics to ensure important statistical context and great storytelling. Quidich Innovation Labs will offer player monitoring and Field 360°, a dynamic virtual field model that displays changing fielding positions and tactical modifications in real time.

Speciality cameras will allow fans to get even closer to the action. Quidich will use drone cameras and a roving buggy camera, while BBG Sports will supply high-speed fixed cameras to catch key moments. Spidercam will be used during select matches to provide sweeping aerial shots and theatrical imagery.

Aside from live match coverage, ICC TV, in collaboration with JioStar, will create vertical, mobile-first coverage for select games. ICC TV will also provide its licensees a comprehensive suite of extra material via the ICC material Delivery Service.

This will include player biographies, team features, match and venue previews, and behind-the-scenes footage, giving fans all over the world an inside look at the stories creating the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, both on and off the pitch.
