With the historic opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 between the United States and Canada at Grand Prairie Stadium scheduled to begin the ninth edition of the event today, World Cup cricket has officially arrived in the United States.
As the nation is ready to co-host an ICC World Cup event for the first time, cricket was broadcast to new audiences across America like never before in the final 24 hours leading up to the opening match in Texas.
A lighting projection presentation that included all 20 captains of the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever on the Rockefeller Centre Building in New York City was the main event that created a lot of excitement. The exterior of 30 Rockefeller showed a picture of each of the four companies’ captains above the bustling streets of Manhattan. The ICC Online Media Zone offers vision for download to the media.
As part of an arrangement with the league, captains Rohit Sharma of Bangladesh and Najmul Shanto of India were entitled to accept the renowned Larry O’Brien Trophy prior to the NBA Finals Series. Before today’s warm-up match at the same location, the captains were seeing the 34,000-seat Nassau County International Stadium for the first time.

On June 5, India will play their first encounter at the T20 World Cup against Ireland. But the eagerly awaited India vs. Pakistan match is scheduled for June 9 in New York. On June 1, India would meet Bangladesh in a warm-up match prior to the matches. After playing enough matches in the IPL 2024, all of the players on Team India have had enough time to prepare for the ICC event.
The United States and Canada are scheduled to play in the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup. The US is one of the hosts, along with the West Indies.
