The installation of two large sight screens at Karachi’s National Stadium has reportedly angered ICC. The first game of the next Champions Trophy 2025 between Pakistan and New Zealand is scheduled to take place at the legendary stadium.
In order to prepare the National Stadium for the major event, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expedited the renovation process. But in addition, the arena will host games in the tri-series against South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan that takes place before the Champions Trophy.
RevSportz claims that ICC is unhappy with the large sight screens because they obstruct the vision of the people who purchased tickets behind them.
The PCB has been formally informed by the cricket governing board to provide these fans with reimbursements.
Digital screens and LED lights have been erected at the venue, and a new five-story building has been finished. The date of the spectacular inauguration ceremony is set on February 11.
In an interview with the media on Thursday, February 6, project director Bilal Chauhan affirmed that the construction and renovation work, including the upgrade, was finished. For the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, a gate has been recently put up in front of the VVIP enclosures at Karachi’s National Stadium. PKR 20,000 is the cost of the tickets for these enclosures.
The current Champions Trophy champions are Pakistan. The last time the competition was held, in 2017, they emerged victorious. Pakistan defeated India by 180 runs in the summit match at The Oval in London, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed.
In the ninth iteration of the Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan are grouped with Bangladesh and New Zealand. Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan are in Group B.
