Because of his reputation for consistently winning games for the team, MS Dhoni has become one of the most popular cricket players in the world. Dhoni has amassed 4849 runs in 145 innings at an average of 51.01 in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs) format, including two hundreds and 35 half-centuries. He also managed to stay out of trouble a whopping fifty times in run chases, earning him the reputation of one of the world’s top finishers.
The cricketer did, however, make the unexpected admission that if he thinks the team is winning easily, he doesn’t bother to bat or contribute personally. He went on to say that winning the game as a team is the main goal of team sports and that individual accomplishments are not very important. But the veteran of the Chennai Super Kings claimed that this concept only held true while he was playing for India.
“I don’t crave challenges, but I do love them.” Even though I’m not receiving the batting, I’m content if we win the game amicably. However, I’m referring to India. All I want is for India to prevail. The final over should not be the conclusion of the match. What has transpired—who has won the wicket, who has scored the run? I’m not disturbed. It is our responsibility to win the game so that we can return home.
That’s what matters,” MS Dhoni stated in an interview with Raj Shamani.
“I want to help if I can. A 100% donation is not required. I used to bat down the order, so it should be whatever is crucial for the team. Thus, it would be a significant contribution if I could score, say, 30 runs in 15 deliveries. “So, anything where I can help,” the Ranchi native continued.
In terms of the 43-year-old’s performance in the 2025 Indian Premier League, the CSK player has been outstanding at taking wickets, and the seasoned gloveman has displayed some lightning-fast run-outs and stumpings. Though the tournament has only just begun, Dhoni would like to improve his batting performances in order to help the team captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad win their sixth trophy.
